Hold it easy
In Hold it easy textile and botanical loops are brought together, creating a soft appearance while still providing support. The objects and photographic works on display evoke structures that are barely visible: microscopic supporting arms and their silvery sheen. In the photographic view of the water fern, the boundary between what holds and what is held blurs; water could just as easily be the body as it is the eye. Once brought ashore, the arms of the sculptural group resonate with a tree trunk and its earthy, supportive power. In the exhibition set within the open Central Garden, visitors find themselves unusually close to these delicate structures.
