CLUB 22 #1 marks the start of a new exhibition series at the LLLLLL artistrun space. The series focuses on artists living in Vienna and aims to foster a discourse on contemporary art in Seestadt through a series of exhibitions. The first exhibition features works by Nadine Lemke and Georg Novotny.
In her work, Nadine Lemke focuses on structures and patterns. The objects created for the exhibition at LLLLLL are based on textile techniques. The artist is interested in physicality and the implications of social structures. The result is an interplay of harmonious moments that permeate the work, alongside simultaneous ruptures and fragility.
Georg Novotny has developed his practice from his interests in digital art in the early 2000s toward an increased engagement with physical materials. He responds to the transformation in which digital media have become fully woven into our everyday lives by choosing analog media in his work. He uses newspapers, images from magazines, and books in the technique of collage. In this approach, a circle closes for him regarding the significance of media and the possibility—or necessity—of placing information within one’s own context and representation.
